After the Rain is the debut album of the American rock group Nelson, released by Geffen Records in 1990. It contained the #1 hit, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection" and the follow-up single, "After the Rain", which reached #6.
- The Nelson family are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only family to reach number one record status in three successive generations (beginning with grandparents Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, singer Rick Nelson, and finally his sons Gunnar and Matthew Nelson).
- In December of 2010 a new CD entitled "Before The Rain": Demo Songs for "After the Rain" was released on iTunes. This collection of demos secured Nelson's recording contract with Geffen Records in 1990. Nelson also released Perfect Storm – After the Rain World Tour 1991, a live concert album. Even though the band toured behind the album a full concert was never filmed. This live album is the only recording that was made during that time.
Background
Nelson began writing and recording songs in 1986. They had worked on the Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure soundtrack under the name "Powertool." They wrote the song "Two Heads are Better Than One." Nelson continued to write songs, eventually going to Australia to collaborate with Graeham Goble from the Little River Band. A subsequent 3-month stay in the U.K. to write with hitmakers Adrian Gurvitz and Argent's Russ Ballard followed. Nelson went back to California and started recording demos with producer Marc Tanner. These demos can now be heard on, "Before the Rain."
